Birthdays, anniversaries, or holiday celebrations are welcomed. We have a variety of small and large rooms available for your celebrations. If you would like to reserve a space for a large gathering or a dining room to have a quiet family meal together, just let us know.
Garden Courtyards
Ecumen Detroit Lakes is very fortunate to offer three lovely courtyards with sitting areas where you can enjoy the birds, sunshine and flowers or have a picnic lunch with family and friends under the gazebo. Our main courtyard features a propane grill for your backyard barbeque enjoyment. Raised planters and community gardens are available to plant and grow your own flowers or vegetables.
Gift Shop
Shopping for that someone special is easier with a visit to “The Pines”. Our gift shop located near the Chapel Entrance of the nursing home is managed by the Ecumen Detroit Lakes Auxiliary. It provides residents and visitors the opportunity to shop for gifts, greeting cards, and seasonal gift items at reasonable prices.
Pets
From reducing cardiovascular disease to easing loneliness, animals play a vital role in health and happiness. Ecumen Detroit Lakes is a “pet friendly” campus. One small pet is welcomed at The Madison, Lamplighter Manor, the NorthShore Townhomes, and in special situations, at the nursing home. We also enjoy visiting pets and animals. Contact activities if you would like to bring in your pet for a visit.
Massage Services
Massage can relax the entire body, loosen tight muscles, and promote restful sleep. Massage service is provided by a Certified Massage Therapist or you may choose to enjoy a private relaxing whole body massage on the Wellsystem Aqua Massage bed, both available by appointment for a fee.
Salon Services
Beauty shop and barber services are available from licensed professional hair stylists in several on-site shops throughout Ecumen Detroit Lakes. Appointments can be made for haircuts, sets, permanents or coloring to suit your individual style preferences.
Technology
We offer internet access connections to our customers. Thanks to the Ecumen Detroit Lakes Auxiliary, we also have two computers available for residents’ use. They are connected to high-speed internet which is provided by Arvig Communication Systems. A free, safe, email account is available through http://generationsonline.com/, an internet and email service for seniors.
Nintendo Wii interactive game system is available for fun and exercise. Challenge your neighbor or visitor to a game of bowling, tennis or a car race to the finish line.
A cognitive fitness system combines fun and cognitive exercises with the latest technology which helps maintain brain health and mental acuity. [m]Power is designed for use by virtually all seniors, from those with the sharpest minds to seniors who have mild cognitive impairment, those at risk for Alzheimer’s disease, and even those with moderate dementia. Transportation
Transportation for Ecumen detroit Lakes sponsored outings may be provided by our trained drivers with our handicapped accessible van at no charge for the transportation. Each week scheduled transportation is provided to area shopping centers or events from Lamplighter Manor, The Madison and The Cottages for a small donation.
Transportation for other activities or for medical appointments is provided by Medi-Van or Becker County Transit, with each having their own fee structure. We will assist you in determining which service is required to best meet your transportation needs.
